It surprises me how quickly the time goes by – one day they’re newborn babies and the next they’re crazy toddlers! That, and how many things that I need to apologize to my own mother about for doing when I was a kid!

I have found it so amazing how much children can COMPREHEND without actually verbally expressing it! You can just see their minds working :)

The most surprising thing is how much drool one baby can make. They can completely soak everything around them!

I never knew motherhood was this damp. I am messy all the time.

The most surprising thing is that a mother’s curse is real….I did have children exactly like me. BTW, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this giveaway, I have a disabled daughter we’ve been looking for a product like the Walking wings for ages!

I was surprised at how much I could love my daughter instantly. Being a mama also gave me a new respect for my mother and definitely strngthened our relationship.

That his laugh would make me feel like my heart was going to explode :)

The most surprising thing about motherhood to me, is the way it changes people for the better. Not everyone is affected by producing a child, but those who are it is simply amazing. I was a wild child, I was a partyer, I was care-free. The moment I found out I was pregnant my life changed. I went from Paris Hilton to Martha Stewart overnight. I love being a mom and every aspect of it, even the “bad parts”.

what surprised me the most is how hard it is. i mean, everybody tells you how great motherhood is, but nobody tells you that you are going to become a little paranoic due to the lack of sleep, that you will try to dress nice when you get out of the house and be vomited on from shoulder to toe, and having to change into an outfit taht you would use to do the cleaning because you didn’t have something else prepared.

The most surprising thing is how much I miss her while I am working and how guilty I feel not spending more time with her during the day (that she is basically raised by a daycare).

I’m surprised that I never really needed more than 4 hours of sleep at night…I will feel like a lazy slob when all my babies start sleeping through the night :)

  • Anna said:

The most suprising thing I discovered is that its actually not hard! It’s doesn’t involve hard work like alot of people say, but it does involve LOTS of work, its repetitive, takes patience, and has a long term goal soyou can’t expect to get any recognition back for at least 20 years!

  • Maura said:

I am surprised how immediately I bonded with my daughter the moment we adopted her. Sigh.

Does being a mother for a puppy count?

I was surprised at my first reaction to my son. I expected to be teary, a heart filled with sappy sweet loving feeling, so very cookie cutter mama-moment expectations. Instead I looked down at this scrawny, pink creature (he’s a preemie) and instead of love felt this overwhelming primal heat, a surge of raw emotions, nothing pretty at all: a bone deep awareness that he is mine and I am his and I’d fight demons to protect him. The soft, sweet “aww” moments came later.

  • monica said:

i was moved and amazed by how i instantly felt so much love and joy for this tiny, crying little person. i worried so much about how my life would never be the same, but it’s so much better. :)

I am surprised at how differently I feel about babies now. To be honest, before I had my son, I wasn’t all that enthralled by babies, but now they ALL seems so cute to me.
