Breastfeeding is a beautiful and natural way to bond with your baby and give her a nutritional foundation that will last a lifetime.  But it isn’t always easy.  Many moms struggle with the logistics of breastfeeding in a society that isn’t always willing to accommodate them.

That’s why having support and information is so vital for breastfeeding success.  Thanks to the internet, moms are able to get encouragement and education even if they live in a remote area or face negativity from family members, neighbors and friends about their choice to breast feed their babies.

Being in the baby business, we’ve read a lot of blogs about breastfeeding and infant care, and we’d like to share with you our list of Top Ten Best Breastfeeding Blogs:

Blacktating
This devoted mom of a breastfeeding toddler started her blog as a project to keep her occupied while she was on maternity leave–and it has blossomed into one of the most popular blogs on breastfeeding.  She also discusses natural, green living and attachment parenting.  Twitter Handle:  @Blacktating

BLISS Breastfeeding
BLISS stands for Breastfeeding and Lactation Information and Support Source. The blog is part of the non-profit organization serving breastfeeding families in Canada.  This blog is updated consistently and really expresses how passionate these women are about supporting other breastfeeding moms.

Breastfeeding Moms Unite
Written by a former psychology major who constantly strives to find the “whys” and “whats” behind the choice to breastfeed.  She encourages healthy debate and open discussion about all matters relating to breastfeeding, including a woman’s right to breastfeed in public.  She also discusses all aspects of pregnancy, birth, and child rearing as well as politics, social issues and nutrition.   Twitter Handle:  @bfmom

Breastfeeding Mums Blog
This Ireland-based blog discusses everything from current events related to pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.  There is a particularly excellent page that features real breastfeeding stories from real moms who have struggled with the challenges and reaped the rewards of choosing to breast feed their babies.

Chronicles of a Nursing Mom
She’s a full-time working and pumping mom who has been nursing her baby for more than two years.  Her blog is a personal look at how a real mom functions day-to-day while incorporating breastfeeding into her schedule.

Momzelle
Momzelle’s blog is a part of her retail site, but it is not just an afterthought.  It contains excellent, personal content which is regularly updated–and it manages to be both informative and entertaining.

Mama Knows Breast
Before she was a breastfeeding blogger she was a lawyer and a journalist.  Her blog is an extension of her best-selling book “Mama Knows Breast: A Beginner’s Guide to Breastfeeding,” the essential new-mom’s guide to nursing–full of friendly, frank, and reassuring advice.  The Mama Knows Breast blog is the place to find the latest breastfeeding news, tips and anecdotes. It was voted one of the Top 100 Mom Blogs by Mothers Day Central.

Lactivist.net
This UK-based blog is a collaborative effort by many breastfeeding moms.  It was started in 2003 by a woman who received negative comments about her breastfeeding her baby in public.  She decided to fight her battle with knowledge and information and launched both her blog and a retail site that sells t-shirts and accessories to promote breastfeeding.

The Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog
This is one of the most prolific and infomative breastfeeding bloggers anywhere.  She is a lactation consultant who works at several hospitals, and has both a  blog and a podcast dedicated to breastfeeding and lactation education.  She has also worked with the UN to organize elections in peacekeeping missions to Cambodia, Bosnia and South Africa.  And she has her own retail site.  Oh and also?  She just announced she’s expecting in June.  Congratulations!

The Suzette
This working mom and business woman writes a blog about her children’s development including chronicling the time she spent breastfeeding each of them.  It’s a fun, lively blog that also features posts about delicious recipes, humorous stories and travel.
