Healthy Child Healthy World – Join the Movement!
Regardless of age, gender, religion, politics or any other number of ways we define ourselves, it is increasingly evident to all of us that sometime during the 20th century our society ran amok with chemicals, toxins and other lab-created marvels which are finally showing up as major health issues in record numbers of adults and children.
Studies have proved again and again that there are links between chemical exposure and birth defects, cancers, immune system deficiencies, and other major health problems. And it only makes sense. We’re organic creatures. If you ply us with lab-created substances over a period of several years, there’s a good chance it will interact badly with our body’s systems.
For a while we were fooled into thinking that the companies who were creating and using these chemicals were actually looking out for our interests. After all, why would any one expose innocent people to dangerous chemicals on purpose? We assumed that the chemicals used in our foods, construction, clothing, housewares, cars–everything in our lives–were tested for safety. Even the government approved their use. They couldn’t really be bad for us. Could they?
They could. They are.
The folks at HealthyChild.org have started their non-profit organization to fulfill this important mission:
Healthy Child Healthy World exists because more than 125 million Americans, especially children, now face an historically unprecedented rise in chronic disease and illness such as cancer, autism, asthma, birth defects, ADD / ADHD, and learning and developmental disabilities. Credible scientific evidence increasingly points to environmental hazards and household chemicals as causing and contributing to many of these diseases.
- Expand awareness and understanding of environmental hazards to children’s health
- Help the public learn about healthier practices, solutions, and products in the marketplace
- Encourage daily action and informed lifestyle choices
- Create standards and policies for safer products, foods, materials, and chemicals used in the home – promoting safer options and new alternatives
- Advocate for and support corporate policies and governmental legislation that protect children from environmental risks
- Engage communities to make wise choices and responsible decisions so families can flourish
